Index of activity of the regulatory systems (IARS)
Index of activity of the regulatory systems (IARS) is calculated in points by a special algorithm that takes into account statistical indicators, histogram indices and spectral analysis of cardiointervals. IARS allows differentiating various degrees of exertion of regulatory systems. IARS was proposed back in the early 80's (Baevsky R.M. and others, 1964) and proved to be quite effective in assessing the adaptive capabilities of the organism. The algorithm of its calculation has gradually been improved and a new algorithm has been developed to nowdays, taking into account the values of all the main indicators of heart rate variability.
The values of IARS are expressed in points from 1 to 10. Based on the analysis of the IARS values, the following functional states can be diagnosed:
- The state of the optimal exertion of regulatory systems necessary to maintain the active balance of the organism with the environment (norm, IARS = 1-3).
- The state of moderate exertion of regulatory systems, when additional functional reserves are required for adaptation to environmental conditions. Such conditions arise in the process of adaptation to work activity, emotional stress or under the influence of unfavorable environmental factors (IARS = 4-5).
- The state of the extreme exertion of regulatory systems, which is associated with the active mobilization of protective mechanisms, including increased activity of the sympatho-adrenal system and the pituitary-adrenal system (IARS = 6-7).
- The state of overstress of regulatory systems, which is characterized by the inadequacy of protective adaptive mechanisms, their inability to provide an adequate response of the body to the effects of environmental factors. Here, excessive activation of regulatory systems is no longer supported by the corresponding functional reserves (IARS = 8).
- The state of exhaustion (asthenization) of regulatory systems, in which the activity of control mechanisms is reduced (insufficiency of regulatory mechanisms) and there are characteristic signs of pathology. Here, specific changes clearly prevail over nonspecific changes (IARS = 9-10).
This pathology can be detected using ECG Dongle [1], ECG Dongle Full [2] and «Serdechko» [3].
